Wood Stove
Wood works great at the right time of the year. This is a home
made
folding stove. It folds flat for easy packing. One pound
of sticks is about 5,000 - 6,000 btu's.
It takes 2.5 oz of wood sticks to bring 16 oz of water from 62 degrees
to boil in 8 minutes.
Can Stove with Sterno Fuel
Tin can stoves using sterno work very well. Two sizes shown here
for different kinds of packs.
You can see the hole in the bottom is for stick fire if you run out
of fuel. Sterno 2.6 oz cans, the small ones,
will heat water for cup of noodle or cocoa several times. When
one can gets too low to burn correctly save
it and combine it with your second can later when it is down
some.
Three of the bigger cans and stove has
taken me on a 10 day trip. 3 heats per 2.6 oz
can will bring 16 oz of water from 62 to boil in 18 minutes.
See the cut outs at the bottom to make them wood stoves also.
Trioxane
Trioxane Fuel Stoves are small and compact. That is a 16 oz
Cup.
One 30 gram pack will take
16 oz. of water from 62 degrees to boil in 7 minutes. Trioxane
also comes in 15 gram bars.
ISO Butane/Propane
Very small, very cool, about 40 dollars. This is what I use
now.
That is 110 gram tank, it will bring 16 oz of water from 62 to boil in
5 minutes.
Using 12 grams of fuel.
